2024 Region 4 Quartet Contest had two quartets with MNC members in 2nd and 3rd place.
Congratulations to VIVACE on their second place medal and to INTREPID on their 3rd place medal!
A talented performer as well as a gifted coach and teacher, Vickie Wonders Foltz was a member of the Sweet Adeline International Faculty and the Artistic Director for Metro Nashville Chorus. The impact of her approach to barbershop showmanship and characterization can be seen and heard in choruses across the United States and as far away as Sweden and New Zealand. A teacher by profession and avocation, Vickie loved to work with young voices and help them bring their talents to new audiences.
In a very exciting chorus contest, MNC earned first place and a spot in the 2024 International Contest in Kansas City. 2nd Place was only 3 points behind, and we are confident our friends in Pride of Kentucky will wildcard as well. It great to be from such a talented region!
For the first time since 2019, Sweet Adelines International held a Chorus Finals on Saturday, September 17, 2022. MNC was beyond proud to be one of the ten finalist choruses! Every chorus presented a finals package that had style, flair, and, of course, tons of harmony!
Our finals package was a SWEET story about candy in the display case of The Big Heart Candy Company. We had so much fun putting the story, the songs, and the costumes and props together. Singing for a huge audience of Sweet Adelines and friends/family fill our hearts! We are so very proud to have earned a 7th place medal!
After a long , three-year delay due to COVID, the 74th Sweet Adelines International Convention and Contest was held September 13-17 in Phoenix, AZ this year. MNC was proud to be CONTESTANT #1 in the Chorus Semi-Finals on Thursday, September 15th. We hit the stage first, and then had the privilege of experiencing every chorus' Semi-Final performance. What a great contest!
Sweet Adelines presents the HARMONY ACHIEVEMENT award to the highest scoring chorus with <80% the average number of voices on stage in the contest. This year, choruses with fewer than 41 voices were eligible. (The largest choruses were 80-90 voices.) MNC has 34 voices on stage, and we were thrilled to receive the 2022 HARMONY ACHIEVEMENT award! This is our 5th consecutive HARMONY ACHIEVEMENT.
On Saturday November 13th from 11am-1pm central, MNC will be hosting our second annual webinar for music educators entitles BARBERSHOP MUSIC IN THE CLASSROOM.

2020 has be a year of challenges for everyone, and MNC is no exception. Along with the whole world, our members and their families have faced the pandemic, social distancing, political strife, and economic concerns. As a chorus, we've learned how to stay in touch via virtual meetings, but no amount of Zoom time can replace the joy of singing together on the risers. Like other performers, we've absorbed the loss of shows and contests in a world where singing and gather as an audience is no longer safe. And through it all, we are eternally grateful to the healthcare and essential workers who are on the frontlines every day!
Now, we're looking ahead to 2021, hopeful and excited that it will be a better year.
Due to COVID-19, MNC rehearsals have shifted to digital for now. We continue to meet at 6:30 central on Tuesdays. Rehearsals include physical and vocal warmups, rep song review, sectional breakouts, and, perhaps most importantly, an opportunity for our members to connect and feel the love across the miles. We are watching and waiting to see when live rehearsals will be again be possible, but until then we are doing our very best to be @togetherapart. Guests are always welcome at digital or physical rehearals. Please use the contact form on this site to request info our joining our Zoom session!
