8th Annual YWISH Festival

More than 40 young women (age 14-25) participated in the 2018 YWISH (Young Women in Song and Harmony) Festival on Saturday, November 17th.  MNC conducted their 8th annual Festival at East Nashville Magnet High School. 70% of the participants came in groups from five high schools, and the remainder represented a variety of high schools and colleges as well as home-schooled young women. The participants registered and received music in October, and came to YWISH ready to work on their harmonies and choreography.  After a day of singing and friendship, they join MNC in an evening performance. For the final song, MNC and the girls sang "You've Got a Friend in Me."   Next year's YWISH Festival will be held 11/16/19.

MNC Earns 9th Place Medal at 2018 International

ST LOUIS MO - November 20, 2018

Metro Nashville Chorus earned a 9th place medal in the Sweet Adelines International Chorus Finals on 11/20/18.  34 choruses from around the world qualified to compete at the International level this year.  On Thursday 11/18, each chorus performed two songs and was judged.  The top ten scoring choruses proceeded to the Finals.  After the semi-final round, Sweet Adelines presents the Harmony Achievement Award to the highest score chorus below a specific number of voices.  This year that limit was 55, and MNC (with 44 singers on stage) earned the Harmony Achievement Award this year for the fourth time.

MNC at Make Music Nashville 2017

MNC had a blast performing in MAKE MUSIC NASHVILLE on May 21st!  Make Music Nashville coordinated almost 100 artists at 30 different venues all over the city in a live, free celebration of music on the longest day of the year. MNC sang in the Centennial Park Bandshell.  The beautiful summer evening was a great backdrop to share our songs with audience members and passers-by on the lawns and trails at Centennial Park.

MNC at 40th Annual Bellevue Picnic

MNC had a wonderful time at the 40th Annual Bellevue Community Picnic on Saturday, May 20, 2017.  It was a beautiful, sunshine-filled day, and we loved exploring the booths, and food trucks, and listening to the entertainment before it was our turn to BE the entertainment. Thank you to everyone who listened to our song and the new friends we spoke to after the performance.

2017 Region 4 Chorus Champions

On Saturday April 8, MNC placed first in the 2017 Region 4 Chorus Contest, earning the right to compete in the 2018 International Contest in St Louis, MO.  The chorus is very excited about the win and the chance to share the stage with 30+ of the best choruses in the world next year.  This is a great time to join the chorus as we prepare for International next fall!  Check out the Join Us page to learn more.

2016 Vickie Wonders Foltz Scholarships Awarded

A talented performer as well as a gifted coach and teacher, Vickie Wonders Foltz was a member of the Sweet Adeline International Faculty and the Artistic Director for Metro Nashville Chorus. The impact of her approach to barbershop showmanship and characterization can be seen and heard in choruses across the United States and as far away as Sweden and New Zealand.  A teacher by profession and avocation, Vickie loved to work with young voices and help them bring their talents to new audiences.

MNC wins Harmony Achievement Award & 11th Place Finish

Las Vegas, NV - November 20, 2016

Metro Nasvhille Chorus earned the Harmony Achievement Award in the Sweet Adelines International Chorus Sem-Finals today.  34 choruses from around the world qualified to compete at the International level this year.  On Thursday 11/20, each chorus performed two songs and were judged.  Then top ten scoring choruses proceeded to the Finals.  After the semi-final round, Sweet Adelines presents the Harmony Achievement Award to the highest score chorus below a specific number of voices.  This year that limit was 61, and MNC (with 48 singers on stage) earned the Harmony Achievement Award this year for the third time.

Region 4 2015 Champion Chorus

Metro Nashville Chorus was named the 2015 Regional Chorus Champion at the annual Sweet Adelines Regional competition, held April 16-18 in Lexington, Kentucky.  As a result, Metro Nashville will travel to Las Vegas to compete with the top 35 choruses in the world at the 2016 International Contest. 

Metro Nashville was also named regional Division AA champion (awarded to mid-sized choruses with 31 – 60 singers on stage).  Metro Nashville had 43 members compete in Lexington.  The other Regional competitors ranged in size from 20 to 100 voices on stage.
