Recording Day!

MNC recorded the tracks for our new CD, Silver & Gold, on Saturday, September 20, 2013.  With the help of some WD-40 to quiet squeaky risers and a few "freezes" to ensure our cutoffs were cough-free, we captured 12 holiday songs and a few reps songs.  It was a great day of recording, harmony, and friendship!  

One of our members brought in stockings and garland to put us all in the mood.  And luckily it was a cool September day, since we had to have the A/C off to reduce ambient noises!

Kim Wonders' 25th Anniversary

Kim started directing MNC in 1988, so this year marks her 25th year as our director, leader and friend!  On August 25th, we had a terrific party - you can see more photos here (The event was held in an amazing horse barn - in case you're wondering about the hay in some photos).  We enjoyed each other companies, viewed photos of Kim and the chorus over the decades, and heard from several long-time friends as well as Kim herself.  If you would like to congratullate Kim on her Silver Anniversary and good luck on the NEXT 25 years - please leave a comment below!.

Metro Nashville Chorus Wins Regional Championship

Metro Nashville Chorus was named the 2013 Regional Chorus Champion at the annual Sweet Adelines Regional competition, held April 6-8 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  As a result, Metro Nashville will travel to Baltimore to compete with the top 35 choruses in the world at the 2014 International Contest.  Although they have qualified as a wildcard several times, the last time Metro Nashville Chorus won the Regional Chorus Championship was 1989.

Metro Nashville was also named regional Division AA champion (awarded to mid-sized choruses with 31 – 60 singers on stage).  Metro Nashville had 45 members compete in Chattanooga.  The other Regional competitors ranged in size from 20 to 79 voices on stage.

Global Open House 2013

All over the globe this month, Sweet Adelines International choruses are joining together to teach the world to sing. Women of all ages who enjoy singing were invited to a Metro Nashville Chorus Open House, 7pm Tuesday January 22, 2013 at Forest Hills United Methodist Church, 1250 Old Hickory Boulevard, Brentwood, TN.   Metro Nashville Chorus is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, an organization of nearly 25,000 women worldwide who sing four-part a cappella harmony, barbershop style.

Metro Nashville Chorus members share a love for music and singing barbershop harmony. Any woman of average singing ability, with or without vocal training, will find a part that fits her voice range with the help of the chorus’ musical leaders and director.

Metro Nashville Chorus Earns 2013 Harmony Achievement Award

Metro Nashville Chorus was awarded the 2013 Harmony Achievement medal at the annual Sweet Adelines International competition, held this year in Denver, Colorado.  33 of the best choruses in the world competed in the Pepsi Center Arena on November 1, 2012.

The International competitors ranged in size from 39 to 149 members, with an average of 73 on stage.  41 Metro Nashville Chorus members competed in Denver. The chorus finished in 12th place, earning the Harmony Achievement medal, which was established in 1991 to recognize the highest scoring smaller chorus in Sweet Adelines International Competition.
